Hosting FAQ

I have my hosing with you but my domain name is going to my old web host or somewhere else?

You need to update the domain name servers (DNS) with the company who looks after your domain name to the following name servers:-
ns1.hostingandwebdesign.co.uk
ns2.hostingandwebdesign.co.uk

(Just to be clear the name server is the entire name above including the ns1. and ns2.)

I have the correct DNS set-up but I still can't see my site?

Once the domain name servers are set up correctly it can take up to 48 hours for all the internet to register the change.  Usually the domain should be pointing to the correct site within 24 hours.

I have uploaded my website, but I will not display?

Have you uploaded into the correct directory?  For the world to see your site it needs to be uploaded to the public_html folder on the server.

I previously used my ISP for sending mail, can I still do this?

Yes.  It is quite normal when using your own server for receiving mail to use your ISP for sending mail.  This is because some web hosts block sending mail to avoid clients site being used as spam gateways.  However by using this method with SR Hosting & Web Design your email (user name) and password are required to send the mail, so you also have the option of using the server to send instead of your ISP.
